The Mike Myers videos are available on udemy for cheap get both and follow the program. Become a tech and go to a new job you will still think there is a new job after. There's a plus side though. When you become a+ certified there are plenty of other opportunities for more certifications after a+

I already had a good baseline of knowledge with computers so I decided to supplement my already existing knowledge to go for the certification. I have not taken the test yet but I have no doubt in my mind that this kit will help me pass.But this review isn't about me. It's about YOU. This kit is absolutely amazing for someone who knows nothing about computers and I mean that quite literally. If you're someone who always had a desire to work the computer industry but lacked the skills you thought were necessary then this kit is for you.Reason being is, the book (unlike many other study guides) does not assume you already know about the topic. It assumes that you have never used or seen a computer in your life and will walk you from baby steps of what CompTia A+ is and beyond. It starts you out very basic by discussing computer components (from the tower case all the way to software troubleshooting and more) and takes each segment little by little (which is why the book is so large). I thought I knew a lot but this book taught me even more or helped solidify the knowledge I already had.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a desire to work with computers. Even if you have no intentions on working in the computer industry but want to know more about how computers work and software you will not go wrong with this kit.The kit comes with 2 items, the actual study guide (which is a hard covered book) and a soft cover review guide that just gives you the review topics and explanations along with assessment questions to test your knowledge.Best of luck! I plan to update my review after I take the exam to determine its paralleled efficiency with the covered topics.

Out of the two books, I've only been reading the Study Guide. If I wasn't already in the industry, I wouldn't have a clue about what the author is talking about. He talks about topologies without any explanation of the different kinds, which luckily I know. But he does some sort of math regarding the processors without explaining what needs to be multiplied or divided. Maybe its me, but I've read through it several times and don't know where he is getting his final figures from. I still have to figure that out. The worst part is, I'm only on page 23! I really hope the rest of the book is written with the fact in mind that this is entry level and a lot of people haven't learned anything about this yet.

These books are the best for the CompTIA certification. 901 and 902 are separate from each other so there is no confusion. Online resources are great too.

OK so I just passed there's with a 740 out of 900 which is a decent score. However I think that has more to do with me mucking out in some areas and other were in the book. Many concepts and practices this book focuses on never show up on the exam. Example there is an entire chapter dedicated to professionalism and workplace procedure. However only 2 of the 78 questions on the test had to deal with that. What wasn't in the book but was very prevalent in the exams was network management. (Connecting to servers/ managing group policies etc.) And the book barely talks about those types of procedures. What the book does spend loads of time on are things that no longer apply in the it world but is shoves it on you anyway. I'd definitely recommend this setup but be cautious. Also the practice exam questions they give you practically sett you up to second guess yourself. Many of them tend to have two very viable answers and it's a crap shoot as to whether or not you get it right. Also some chapter need to be broken up. Many of them drag forever and I had a hard time processing all of the new information.

I absolutely do not recommend this book. First off, it's written more like an encyclopedia/dictionary rather than a book of learning. It is as if they actively choose to write everything in the longest possible way. Whereas most textbooks try to convey information succinctly, this book drones on and on about unimportant things. Honestly, I found the material to actually confuse me more than teach me. I ended up using other resources. Even the prep questions they provide are nothing like the actual test. Beyond that, they pretend to give you an online prep testing but it's a waste of time because it is just the same questions from the book put online.If you are serious about passing this certification then go pay the $200-300 to Comptia and use the Comptia test prep. Other sources for tests will mess you up.
